Bulbophyllum biflorum

Found this orchids in Camera Highlands, being sold by Orang Asli.Normally found on tree trunks in shady forest between 700 meter up to 1000 meter. A miniature sized, warm to hot growing epiphytic species with ovate, strongly 4 angled, yellow pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, thin, oblong, apically blunt, shortly petiolate leaves that blooms on a basal, thin, wiry, semi-pendulous, 2 3/4" to 4.1" [7 to 11 cm] long, 2 flowered inflorescence carrying scented flowers.

Bulbophyllum pileatum

An epiphytic species normally found up to 1000 meters in mountain of Borneo, but in Malaysia, normally found from sea-level up to 200 meters. In on of the state in Malaysia, Johore, this species is widely found in swamp forest. The flower is single with normal size about 3 cm with dull yellow.

Widely distributed in Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra (East & West Coasts), Java (West), Borneo (Kalimantan, Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei), Philippines, Sulawesi (Minahassa), Maluku A lowland orchids and normalyy found near riverbanks where the Altitude: Sea Level - 1500m.

The Pseudobulbs is close together to a few cm apart, appr 15 x 2 cm, 2 leaves appr 27 x 6 cm

Bulbophyllum lobii - the flower

Bulbophyllum lobii - the flower....

One of many species that is widely found in Malaysia and also neighboring countries, such as Sumatra, Java and Borneo in primary forest and humid places, between 600 - 2000m above sea level.

Briefly the plant pseudobulbs is placed 3cm or more apart on the creeping rhizome, 3-4 x 2.5cm, smooth an round when young, slightly flattened. Whereas the leaves are broadly lanceolate, about 20-25 x 6-12cm.

The flower inflorescences arised from it rhizome, penducle and pedicel together 20cm or more long, each bearing single flower, with 6 - 8cm broad, yellow, striped and flushed red

Note

This species varies very much throughout its range, in particular in coloring and the petal length.

Bulbophyllum cameronense

The name will lead to a highland in Malaysia, the Cameron Highlands,... thus Bulbophyllum cameronense, is where this orchids is commonly found.

Still remember back in 2006, I managed to buy some plant and till todate, still not managed to grow it.

Bulbophyllum purpurecense

I have once found this Bulbophyllum purpurecense on tp of rock boulders, where it is being exposed by 100 % sun, sugesting that this species is quite robust.

The plant is slightly similar to bulbophyllum vaginatum, with some exception, ie the plant has slight trail of purplish color either on the leaf or the bulbs. Suggesting that the name is purpurecense.

Coelygyne pandurata

A lovely showy lowland orchids which is widely found in Malaysia, the Coelygyne pandurata orchids. It has a 2-leaved slender leaves coming out from a thin psudobulb. The inflorescenes normally 30 t0 40 cm in length where each flowers can grow up to 7cm across.

It has a lip with a black central patch and prominent white warts character.
